CITES Revisited

The third week in January is the annual CITES conference that Susie attends in St. George. Last year I had an aborted trip to Phoenix that sort of ruined the trip. This year instead of working I took a vacation day and played golf.
Before we could leave there was a lot of running around to do. Saturday morning our Priests and Laurels are providing breakfast to the Food Care Coalition homeless clients. Since I won't be there I volunteered to pick up the food. That meant that Wednesday afternoon I was running around picking up all the food for a breakfast for 75 people.
I attended Mutual, delivered the food, then Susie and I were on our way to St. George. We left the house about 7:45 and were at the hotel at 11:15. Thank you 80 MPH speed limit on I-15.
Sunbrook golf course from the first Tee
Thursday morning Susie was up and on her way to her conference. I was on vacation so I spent the first two hours of the morning answering work phone calls and taking care of urgent e-mails. Perhaps I should announce I will be on vacation and people would leave me alone but I think everyone just senses I'm taking a day off so they send me something to see if I'll respond.

There are a lot of choices of golf courses in St. George. I checked T-Times and other factors and decided to try Sunbrook golf course. I arrive at about ten minutes to 10 and was on the course at 10 am. I played the front 9 in 70 minutes. Then I made the turn and played the back nine in 2 hours and 10 minutes. Lots of older 4 somes on the course.
Nearly a hole in one
My best hole of the day was the first par 3 on the back 9. I came within inches of a hole in one. As it was my ball ended up 2 feet from the pin. This was an island green. Usually that kind of hole really psyches me out. The last hole of the day is an  uphill par 3. About 150 yards tee to green. The group in front of me lost a ball and were walking all around to the right of the hill looking for the ball with no luck since the hillside was covered with cottonwood leaves. The waved my up. I grabbed a 6 iron and hit my ball 5 feet from the pin. They must have thought I was a great golfer since they didn't see all the bad shots I hit behind them.
