| Love the Sonoran desert north of Tucson |
This was an interesting trip in that I had meetings in Albuquerque on Monday, then I was off Monday evening for Tucson. I flew to Phoenix, then drove to Tuscon arriving around 11 pm.Tuesday morning I gave a talk on mosquito borne diseases and mosquito control. Then I was on my way back to Phoenix to fly back to Albuquerque. For some reason Hertz decided to upgrade me to a convertible Camero. Can't say it was the most comfortable ride but it did look good in the desert setting.

Tuesday evening I had dinner with Bob Cartwright at a place called Mas Tapas Y Vino in downtown Albuquerque. They served nothing but Tapas (Mexican appetizers). The food was excellent but the bill came to $119 for two of us. While we were eating a young man sat down at the table next to us who had died his hair in a leopard pattern. It was something to see.
| The Rio Grande as is flows through Albuquerque |
Wednesday morning I met with Tom Larrabee of Truly Nolen Pest control to discuss some fly control issues. That afternoon we had the day off from our meetings so I went and walked along the Rio Grande river trail. It is the largest Cotton Wood forest in the world. That evening I had dinner with my research colleagues, Alvaro Romero and David Allen at Piasano's Italian restaurant. The food was excellent and it was fun to watch the waitress' reactions as she would listen to our conversations about controlling cockroaches in restaurants.
Thursday morning I had breakfast with David Cox and Matthew Lee to discuss research opportunities for this summer. Then I was off to the airport to return home. I am really in need of a full weekend.
