Labor Day Picnic

Labor Day weekend means the Olsen Family Reunion in Midway Utah. It also means Swiss Days and International Sheep Dog trials at Soldier Hollow which means lots of traffic in Heber Valley. We decided to go up and have dinner and campfire on Friday evening. We left home at 5:20 and ran into bumper to bumper traffic about a mile north of the Deer Creek Dam. No wreck, just so many people trying to get to Heber that when two lanes narrowed to one traffic came to a standstill.

We enjoyed a dinner of grilled pork with peach sandwiches with melon, bananas, and grapes. After dinner I broke out my S'mores kit with the rectangular marshmallows with chocolate center. Ilene Olsen was very impressed by those. With their fire stand assembly you just had to put the stick under the fire stand and it was roasted on two sides automatically.

It was a perfect evening with temperatures in the low 70's. We had an enjoyable evening and got to sleep in our own bed.
