Stranded

This week I took a quick trip to Phoenix to give a talk at the Target office on Spider Control. I'm not sure what was going on in Phoenix this week but there were almost no hotel rooms available and the ones that were open were all over $200. Susie's brother Rick lives in Mesa and they are always telling me that I should stay with them when I come to town on business. So this week I did.

To pay them for the room I took them out to dinner. It was nice in Phoenix. I slept with the window open and had a very good night.

I spoke Wednesday morning and was in the Salt Lake airport by 3:30 and on the Front Runner at 4 pm. Things were going well until just before we arrived at the Draper station the conductor came on the intercom and announced that the train was stopping at Draper and there would be a bus bridge to the American Fork Station. So we stopped and about 200 of us got off the train and waited for the buses that never came.

I realized soon that there would not be any buses for awhile so I called Kevin and had him come get me. We stopped at Thanksgiving point and had dinner at Mo Bettah Steaks, a Hawaiian grill. We were home just in time for me to go to Mutual. We were filming interviews for the road show and it was 9:30 before I got home.
Stranded at the Draper Station
It turns out that the reason the train was stopped was that someone climbed the fence about a mile south of the Draper station and committed suicide by jumping in front of the north bound train. The people on that train were stranded for two and a half hours so I guess I can't complain.

My car was still at the Provo station. So this morning I walked the 3.5 miles to the Provo station and picked up my car. It was a cool 40 degrees and very comfortable for walking.
