Finally Some Success

For the past several weeks I have been doing battle with the apartment and because the apartment is larger it has been winning. This morning I finally had some plumbing success.
When the flooring installer re-seated the toilet it leaked around the bottom. I re-seated the toilet myself and found that he had put the was ring in upside down. I replaced it correctly but it still leaked.
Previously installed ring did not even touch the bottom of the toilet.
After about two weeks of thinking about the problem it dawned on me that because we had raised the subfloor and then added flooring the toilet flange was not about a half inch lower than it had previously been. When I removed the toilet this morning the was ring had not even made contact with the bottom of the toilet. I added another ring and only had to push down about a quarter inch to get the toilet seated on the floor. I think this fourth time was the charm.
With that much success I was feeling optimistic so I decided to replace the bathroom sink faucet. It was a bit of work to get it out because of the awkward location of the water lines relative to the sink. But in less than 30 minutes the faucet was changed with no leaks.
Finally I took a shot at the washing machine cold water tap. It leaked whenever it was turned on so Lindsey had been turning it off when she was not using the washer. I consulted with my plumber brother and tightened the nut on the top of the tap and the leak stopped. Pretty good day for a non plumber.
