One of my favorite activities at Christmas time is to attend the BYU School of Music Celebration of Christmas Concert. The concert features the 4 choral groups; Women's Chorus, Men's Chorus, Concert Choir, and BYU Singers. The BYU Philharmonic orchestra also participates in the concert.Susie and I invited my mother to join us for the concert again this year. We started with lunch at Gloria's Little Italy in downtown Provo (The Chef's Table is closed). After lunch we drove to campus where I dropped Susie and Mom off at the curb and went to park the car.
The concert was excellent as it is every year. They started with the combined choir's singing 'Joy to the World'. Then the Women's Chorus sang, followed by the Concert Choir then the BYU Singers. The Men's chorus was the last singing group before intermission.
During the intermission they set up the stage for the orchestra. The orchestra played 3 songs including 'Sleigh Ride' which they play every year, and 'Baby it's Cold Outside' and featuring the double belled euphonium (an interesting looking instrument).
After the orchestra played we had the audience sing along with 'Hark the Herald Angels Sing'. Then they had the combined choirs perform with Rebecca Pedersen, an award winning soprano who was a student at BYU. She really has a set of pipes. They performed O Holy Night with Rebecca as the soloist.
