Susie and her sisters own a duplex in Orem. A few weeks ago our long time renters moved out and my Nephew Alan Roper and his wife Lindsey moved in. When we were evaluating the apartment before they moved in we decided that we should replace the carpet and the linoleum in the kitchen and bathroom.
That made it easy for Alan and Lindsey to paint because they didn't have to worry about spilling paint on the floor. Unfortunately it took so long to get the installation scheduled that they had moved in.

We were told that the new laminate flooring had to be in the apartment for 3 days before it could be installed. It was finally delivered on Tuesday this week with the install scheduled for Wednesday. I commented to the Home Depot that I was told the flooring needed to be in the apartment for 3 days before the install but they assured me that was not true. When the installer showed up on Wednesday he confirmed that he couldn't do the install because the flooring had only been there one day. And he could not install the flooring we ordered in the bathroom because the floor was bowed.

The bolt on the left is broken. It took so much time to fix this one problem.
We also learned that we couldn't put in linoleum because the subfloor was particle board. Maddening! I discussed my options with my brothers and decided that the best thing was to put down a new subfloor with Luan plywood to make the floor more level.

Nearly finished
Today Kevin and I were off early to make measurements and see what we would need to put down the new subfloor. We left the house at 8:30 and were back home at 4 pm. It was a long day. We had to remove the toilet. One bolt came out easily but the second one broke off. I had to send a photo to my brother Delwyn to get advise. Fortunately it was not a serious problem but it became one when we tried to install the new bolt. Required a trip home to modify the bolt on my grinder.

Ready to install the toilet
At lunch Kevin and I went to the new 'Sweeto Burito' in north Orem. This is a burrito place based in 'Lucha Libre'. All the burritos have stickers that represent the mask of one of the Luchadors. I had the Sweeto Burrito (sweet pork) and Kevin had the 'Carne Assasin' (spicy steak) burrito. The place was packed but we were fortunate to get a seat. When we left the line to order was out the door.
We finally got all the subfloor installed and the toilet re-set and connected. I asked Lindsey if they would mind using a squat toilet until the now floor was in but she respectfully declined. The toilet hook-up went off without a hitch and no leaks. Glad that job is over. It is a lot of work being a slum Lord.
